Another classic, the configuration of these things changed almost from production batch to batch! This one’s serial number and features make it a ’56, and it comprises my favourite combination – G-brand hardtail, big block inlays, early square-lettered Gretsch headstock logo, twin De Armond single-coil pickups, Melita intonable bridge and a strong sense of over-engineering throughout!
Jeff Beck is crazy for singlecut Duo Jets because his hero, Gene Vincent’s guitarist Cliff Gallup, played one. The middle-pickup position gives that classic Gretsch twang and sparkle.
Complete with original mint-condition ‘Vuitton’ case with burgundy plush lining and ‘Gretsch’ brand flash in the lid. Plays well for a Gretsch, but hates being plugged into almost anything that doesn’t have tubes.
